2012 Week 2

Week 2 (w/e 15 January)
Miles: 102
I got the week underway with 17 miles on the Monday. Tuesday was washed out, but Wednesday was cloudy and mild so I advanced to 35 miles. Thursday was bright and sunny so I pushed on to 54 miles during the day. Friday was similar and a shorter ride that day saw me into the weekend with 67 miles. It was very cold at the weekend. I was a bit nervous about venturing down those untreated back lanes, having come a cropper a couple of years back on black ice, so in general I stuck to the main roads. Saturday ended with me on 85 miles, so I got to 102 on Sunday afternoon. I didn't go back out in the evening because the temperature had dropped even further and it didn't look inviting. Job done. The first 100 of the year! Blimey.
The stats:
Time taken to get 100: 6 hr 37 m.
Total for 2012: 152.2
2012 average weekly mileage: 76.1
Miles needed for 6000: 5847.6
Percentage of target reached: 2.53%
With 50 weeks to go, average weekly miles needed for 6000: 116.95

Surprising myself, I managed to break a record here with my fastest time to post a 100 mile week in any year. The previous record was week 4, shared by several years since 2007. I double-checked the date, being the nerdy type, and 23 January was the date when I set the previous record. Crikey!

I've introduced a new stat to my records this year - the "wheel time" it took to amass 100 miles. 6 hours 37 minutes this week. Eeeh, I remember racking up 100 miles in well under 6 hours back in the Nineties when I had my road bike. Around 5 hours 45 was the usual I remember. Them were t'days.
